Commercial Ski Pulk or Equipment Sled Sites::

Do your comparisons here rather than searching all over the web. If anyone knows of another reputable pulk company- email us and we will add them.
This is the most comprehensive list of pulk manufacturers I know of.

*Granite Gear
This is a polyethylene sled with what I believe is the best harness system in the country. Sold mostly through retailers, Pick this one up early as it can be hard to find late in the season. http://www.granitegear.com/products/backpacks/expedition/pulk/index.html

*Wilderness Engineering
An outstanding gear sled and great cover/seat for hauling kids. I have sold the EWS pole/harness system to a few owners of this pulk system if they prefer flexible poles and more padded hip belt.

* Northern Sled Works
A unique design made with UHMW plastic - While I am not a fan of their poles, they do have a very durable and slippery sled

*Zippco (This is a good small sled but I have not been able to find it for sale on any site since 2004)

Baby Glider
Not a lot of control but especially good with skate skiing. Blanchon also makes expedition sleds. .

*Fjellpulken (Hard to find in USA)
One of the best and oldest pulk companies.

*Mad River Rocket (Great fun - very small pulk)

*Kifaru-
Excellent large fiberglass pulk and a shorter Poly pulk.. Only sold in orders of 10 or more according to 2008 web posting.

*Ridge Runner
The Ridge Runner site appears to have been purchased by another company: www.nordicsleds.com

*Snow Sled (European Company)
They make their own 'Ice Blue' plastic pulks to sell in Europe that are similar to the Paris Glad a Boggin sold in the US. They also sell composite expedition pulks. . Their system is described as being " simple yet working well for adventure endurance races and expeditions"

*Bugaboo Buggy

*Alcapulka
Excellent European expedition pulk. .

Chariot Carriers
This company converts their bike trailers for skiing. Our experience with pulks on skis would recommend this kind of set up for groomed trails.

*Great Outdoors
One of the best ski pulks made in the US . In Feb 2007 EWS was able to take over this great line of equipment from the previous owners- Dan and Jean Bergersons. This line is featured on this web site's products page.

*Hage Pulk- (spelling?)
Another well made MN fiberglass pulk system. I have no idea of where you can find more info but many boy scout winter camps seem to use them.

Toboggan Gear Sleds

Some winter travelers prefer the traditional toboggan design to ski pulks. These designs allow for exremely large loads. Because the toboggans are long and narrow, the gear can be very stable and the width works good for snow shoe tracks. These systems are popular in the Boreal Forest, Canadian Shield and Quetico. The are not as good for cross country skiing or for hilly terrain. I have included a couple commercial web sites for gear toboggans.

Wooden Canoe Link

Most winter campers are also canoe campers. Those who build their own pulk are also usually the kind of people to treasure a well made cedar strip canoe. I built one a few years ago- but you have to check out the site of my mentor- Steve Zapf.

Wooden Ski Link

Fresh snow on a trip into your favorite wilderness can be made even more beautiful by taking the trip on a pair of vintage wooden skiis. Greg Fangel who hosts this site has been a major impetus behind cross country skking in Minnesota for years. If you like wood skiis - you will love his site.
