Back Country Travelers - Paris Sled Systems

Loving the sled! Pics are from hut tripping Colorado’s 10th Mtn system.  Here’s to more snow!

With Snowshoes in Yellowstone:  We used two of your sleds on our recent Yellowstone trip where they served us very well in the varying conditions encountered. The deadfall from the big fire and the resulting new trees were easy to travel through. The sleds worked better than I had hoped on one very steep slope we went up and back down a few days later.......Thanks for helping me haul all the gear for the trip.

With Skis in Colorado:  Especially solid on the harness and poles portion, which many seem to overlook. That is the key, the poles are so secure that the sled is at one with the skier. I was skiing down through trees at speeds that boggled my conception of sleds. Much better than skiing with a full pack.

The key seems to be the poles which are incredibly flexible yet very strong. Mine went into contortions way beyond those any other pulk poles I've used would have managed without snapping. So if you're looking for a pulk I recommend these.

Thanks for your help, yours is an excellent system, good enough to pull a skier with an injured back I met north of Oslo last year to the waiting ambulance and drag my gear across Hardangervidda;    I spoke to a Norwegian guy who had used heavy duty pulks to move weaponry around as a soldier, he was very impressed with the set up.

I wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your gear. They work and they work well. They were well worth the $$. Later

Just got back from a week long trip in the Tetons and the pulk worked great. I never knew hauling gear for two people could be so easy. Thanks

Ed I just returned from my 17th trip to Chimney Pond on Mt. Katahdin and it was the best ever. Part of that is due to your system.  I have used a couple different “professional” models and many versions of my own and I think yours is the best we have used.  It tracked extremely well, floated on deep powder rather than burying its front rim and basically disappeared behind me. I love the simplicity of the design / durability and value.  It worked great-  I was very pleased and other folks were very impressed.  Thanks

I have been building ski pulks for about 4 or 5 years and came across your products last winter.  I purchased the poles and hip belt. WOW! I am done designing pulks. Yours performed fantastic! Yurt camping, off trail, heavy trees, uphill, downhill, sidehill, Fantastic!

Please find attached a photo from our recent trip to Janet's Cabin in Colorado. The sled you built me performed much better than I would have imagined. It towed 80lbs well for over 3000 vertical feet of climbing. The photo is taken during the final descent through the ski resort (tour's end). I'm sure you'll be pleased to know the sled towed well (without the stabilizing fins down) up to my normal intermediate run cruising speeds (~30mph). It did take a little technique to control the sleds pendulum type motion as it swung behind me during turns. I found GS size turns work better than short radius, as this gives the sled time to move over behind the driver before the next turn. I was even able to bank the sled off several manmade embankments (1/4 and 1/2 pipe style freestyle obstacles) while maintaining full control. Needless to say, it also towed well on the trail. Post tour inspection revealed not a single sign of wear or tear from these antics. You may receive a batch of orders from my friends who were quite jealous after shouldering their own loads like common backpackers. You elevated me above the masses, and made my tour quite enjoyable. Thanks for the great product!

"The EWS sled is highly recommended.  I pulled it through the Adirondacks last weekend with the greatest of ease.  I am impressed with it's simplicity, durability, and function.  I plan on using it to get my gear to base camp on as many trips as possible.  An absolute relief to get all that weight off my back.  I used an army duffel to pack all my gear, which made loading and unloading a breeze.   The only thing in my backpack, which was used primarily as the harness for the sled, was an an-stuffed sleeping bag.  I got many smiles, inquiries, and nods of approval by other hikers."
